1. Do you have any dog-show superstitions?
Not exactly … I always use four rubber bands for armbands, and certain dogs I have shown have their own special leash.
2. TV-show guilty pleasure?
“General Hospital,” “Outlander,” “NCIS” and “Emily in Paris.”
3. If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?
While it is not a position I would envision myself in, even for a day, I suppose my goal for the day would be to re-focus on the organization’s mission statement and implement plans based on that to bring education and outreach to the general public that can be long term. Let’s not forget why we are here.
4. Most valued material possession?
My dogs, my home and some family heirlooms.
5. What is something no one would guess about you?
I have a bachelor’s degree in business finance.
6. Who would you compare yourself to?
No one. I do the best I can until I know better, and then do that ...
7. What are you “famous” for?
NOTHING … But depending on who you ask, maybe holding the other end of the leash on some history-making Hounds. Tall ones and short ones!
8. What website do you visit most often?
Google, Amazon and Infodog.
9. What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat? And what was it?
I have been fortunate in the sport, and definitely the more memorable wins outshine the defeats. Winning as a Junior handler, Westminster and Crufts, in the same year. As a professional, Hickory’s BIS at Westminster 2011, her granddaughter Claire’s Group 1st at Morris and Essex, as well as the National Dog Show two years in a row. It has been a fairytale with all things in between.
10. What do you wish someone would ask you?
“Can I take you on a vacation to see the Northern Lights?”
