10 Questions ...

... asked of Antonio Vidmar

Dog-sport involvement: Dog-show assistant to Valerie Nunes-Atkinson

Hometown: Zagreb, Croatia

Astrological sign: Leo

1. Do you have any dog-show superstitions?

Yes, and think a lot of people have the same one: wearing only an odd number of rubber bands for armband 3 or 5. I do not believe in one: “Do not wear red.”

2. TV-show guilty pleasure?

“Lucifer,” “Yellowstone,” “Schitt’s Creek.”

3. If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?

I would somehow “ring the awareness alarm” of dog care and the well-being of dogs. There are too many accidents happening, and not just accidents. This is all bad for our sport.

4. Most valued material possession?

A silver necklace that was a gift from my mom. I wear it all the time for her to be close to my heart.

5. What is something no one would guess about you?

Maybe I’m wrong, but don’t think people know I’m an introvert. Lots of people tell me that their first impression of me is a social person.

6. Who would you compare yourself to?

I’m not trying to do that. We all compare ourselves to other people, and that’s not good. Be yourself. At least I’m trying to do that.

7. What are you “famous” for?

LOL — probably for making my friends uncomfortable with my jokes and questions ... I’m very direct and can push their buttons really easily.

8. What website do you visit most often?

No comment, LOL.

9. What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat? And what was it?

BOB at Crufts 2012 in an entry of around 75 Clumber Spaniel; BIS with CJ in Wisconsin, far from my area and under judges I’d never shown dogs to before, and BOB with my favorite Frenchie, Kingsa, in Houston over the number-one Frenchie.

10. What do you wish someone would ask you?

Ha, that’s easy: “Antonio, would you like a million dollars?” Yes, please.
