1. Do you have any dog-show superstitions?
Rubber bands. If I have a terrible day, I get a whole new set. If I have an OK day, I exchange a few. And if it’s a great day, I keep them.
2. TV-show guilty pleasure?
Stand-up comedians, or “New Girl” the sitcom.
3. If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?
Just for one day? Hmm … Rome wasn’t built in a day. Kidding. Uhm, I’d try to go around and ask handlers/owners/new people what they would change or critique. Put myself in the mix of it from all different angles. And try to make a change within for the better. For everyone.
4. Most valued material possession?
Probably my phone, let’s be honest. Or, if I’m being sentimental, I have a couple of articles of jewelry that mean a lot to me.
5. What is something no one would guess about you?
I was born in Holland.
6. Who would you compare yourself to?
Interesting question. I don’t think I would compare myself to anyone. Nothing good ever comes of that.
7. What are you “famous” for?
I would say maybe my solo trips all around the world and my adventurous travel habits.
8. What website do you visit most often?
Facebook and Infodog.
9. What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat? And what was it?
I had a recent Reserve Best in Show on my Boxer bitch from a judge from Norway, Mr. Jari Partanen. That was definitely a win I won’t forget for a couple of reasons. One, Boxers in Norway and overseas look very different from the ones we breed here in the Americas, and, two, he was a foreigner — they often don’t know any of the politics and top-winning dogs around. So to have him appreciate her meant a lot.
10. What do you wish someone would ask you?
“What makes you the proudest in this sport?”
