With the retirement of FRANK MURPHY as an AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB field representative comes the announcement that TARA MARTIN ROWELL will be the new AKC rep, relocating to North Carolina. All of us at DOG NEWS wish her good luck in her new career — it will be nice to have her on the East Coast. ...

The AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB has published the eight show-giving clubs that have signed up for the new concept that complements the 2025 NOHS finals qualifying period from September 2024 to September 2025. These regional competitions will be structured like the finals in Orlando except they will be open to all owner-handlers. Winning entries will receive double the NOHS points toward the finals. The eight shows that are broken up into regions are South Central ARAPAHOE KENNEL CLUB in Colorado, Southwest DEL VALLE DOG CLUB OF LIVERMORE in California, the Plains TRI-STATE KENNEL CLUB in Missouri, Southeast LAKELAND WINTER HAVEN KENNEL CLUB in Florida, Great Lakes WARREN COUNTY KENNEL CLUB OF OHIO, Mideast BALTIMORE COUNTY KENNEL CLUB in Maryland, New England LADIES DOG CLUB in Massachusetts and Northwest OLYMPIC KENNEL CLUB in Washington. ...

Last weekend while we here in the States attended a Corgi specialty, in Oakham, England, 50-plus Corgis attended the unveiling of the first memorial bronze statue of the late QUEEN ELIZABETH II surrounded by three Corgis. It was created by English sculptor HYWEL PRATLEY, who recognized her love of dogs and Corgis in particular. 

Well-known and popular Canadian judge JIM REYNOLDS, who is celebrating a birthday, is in the hospital in Ottawa. According to his daughter CHRISTINE, he is making progress with his recovery from a stroke. All of us at DOG NEWS send our very best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery.
