A royal title for England's Kennel Club

Unique in its name is THE KENNEL CLUB (when written about outside of England, one adds England to distinguish it from other kennel clubs around the world that usually include the country they represent in their name). When it was formed in 1873, there were no other kennel clubs to confuse the name. Our AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB was formed in 1884. On the 150th anniversary of the KENNEL CLUB, whose patron was the late QUEEN ELIZABETH II, KING CHARLES III has bestowed a ROYAL prefix, and henceforth THE KENNEL CLUB in England will be known as THE ROYAL KENNEL CLUB. It’s a very special birthday gift and quite an honor to be acknowledged and given that prefix by the monarch. Like the recent announcement by THE ROYAL KENNEL CLUB, that they will have a “Garden Party” at Buckingham Palace for their members in late May, it’s easy to see the hand of SIR JOHN SPURLING behind these two historic events. He worked tirelessly for these two unprecedented events to take place, and certainly deserves a proper thank-you and recognition making this such a memorable 150th ROYAL KENNEL CLUB anniversary. ...

More than 2,000 guests are expected to attend, including all the employees of THE ROYAL KENNEL CLUB. It will be quite a great day for purebred dogs. Information that comes as no surprise to us in the dog community is that children exposed to pets (cats and dogs) from prenatal development through early infancy are less likely to develop food allergies. A study by DR. HISAO OKABE of FUKUSHIMA MEDICAL UNIVERSITY followed 66,000 children. The size of the study makes it unique. And the results showed that children with such early exposure were less likely to be allergic to milk, eggs and nuts. Other foods like fish and fruits were also mentioned. ...

Happy anniversary to CHUCK & PAT TROTTER. Irish Setter and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel fancier LISA SHRANK passed away very suddenly this week. She was taken ill while visiting friends. Living in Pinehurst, North Carolina, didn't diminish her native English accent. A lovely lady who will be missed by her many friends. ...
