German breed bans, ShowSafe gains momentum

The GERMAN MINISTRY OF FOOD AND AGRICULTURE drafted a bill in February that would be so strict on dog breeding that the VDH (GERMAN KENNEL CLUB) thinks it would lead to banning certain breeds. Among the breeds threatened is their own native one, the Dachshund. Listed among the “TORTURE BREEDS,” the Dachshund has long and low characteristics that vary too much from the “original wolf type.” When does all this stop? The origins of Dachshunds go back as far as the 15th Century and really began in the 17th Century. It seems to me that’s testament enough that the breed can survive without the input of 21st-Century politicians. ...
