The AKC is accepting nominations for its MY CANINE & ME AWARD. It honors children and young adults making “a positive impact on the world with their dogs or achieving personal growth by utilizing their knowledge of dogs and their dog ownership.” Divided into four categories, the awards are: Personal Achievement Award, Influential Junior Award, Innovative Junior Award and Community Achievement Award. Nominations should come from those familiar with the student, and should include a report card, a 500-word essay about the bond between the child and dog, and the reason for the nomination. The winners in each of the four categories will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Nominations will be accepted until August 31, 2023. ...
So saddened to learn that PAM DOTY has passed away. Long absent from the dog-show scene, she was a once active third-generation participant who started in Junior Showmanship. PAMMY’S love of dogs was passed down from her grandmother PEGGY GRAY, so well known in Skye Terriers, and her mother JANE DOTY, who had her own successes with English Cocker Spaniels. She is survived by BILL DOTY, his grandmother and other family members. We send our deepest condolences to the entire DOTY FAMILY.
