10 Questions ...

... asked of Carol Fellbaum

Hometown: Houston, Texas

Astrological sign: Leo

1. Do you have any dog-show superstitions?

I am not a superstitious person. I was taught to work hard and be honest and good things would come to me.

2. TV-show guilty pleasure?

“Yellowstone” and Netflix binge watching.

3. If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?

The first thing I would do would be to develop and implement a marketing plan to get the message across to the general public about how amazing purebred dogs are and why they should be their next family companion.  I would reduce the number of dog shows and change up the judging application process to make it easier and quicker for individuals with many years of experience to become judges.

4. Most valued material possession?

After having watched my mother lose everything twice in massive floods, I have really changed the way I value material items. But I can say that some of her Pug collection did survive, and there are several pieces that mean a lot to me.

5. What is something no one would guess about you?

I have always wanted to be a Radio City Rockette.

6. Who would you compare yourself to?

I have never compared myself to anyone. I am just me. You either like me, or you don’t.

7. What are you “famous” for?

My friends and family would say my deep love for the Bichon Frise.

8. What website do you visit most often?

Infodog.com and OFA.

9. What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat? And what was it?

I have been fortunate to have many nice wins, but the most memorable would have to be winning the breed at Westminster in 2019 with “Donald,” my own Bichon that I bred myself. I kept watching him walk around my house and kept tell someone important to me how nice he was, and he kept doubting me. When we were pulled out first, I thought how wonderful we were getting a Select award. Then the judge kept putting everyone behind us and I was thinking just please let’s not blow this. And when Donald was pointed at that day that, our lives changed forever and I will always be grateful.

10. What do you wish someone would ask you?

I wish someone would ask me to come judge Bichon Frise in a different country.
