10 Questions ...

... asked of Lane Tarantino

Profession: Professional dog-show handler

Dog-sport involvement: Second-generation Cocker Spaniel breeder

Hometown: San Diego, California

Astrological sign: Sagittarius

1. Do you have any dog-show superstitions?

Red is a second-place color: Don’t wear it. (I still do if the outfit is cute.)

2. TV-show guilty pleasure?

“House”!

3. If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?

Update the AKC website! It’s been the same since I can remember, and could stand to become more user friendly! I would also bring back the ShowCalc Point Calculator app. It was so convenient for counting points.

4. Most valued material possession?

My house. I purchased it at the end of 2023. My second most prized possession would be my Afghan Hound painting by V. Tor of Ch. R&K Shauzda, owned by the late Charles Trotter. It’s truly breathtaking. I can never thank Pat Trotter enough for letting it live in my home.

5. What is something no one would guess about you?

I am an avid antique collector. I also love reading and watching documentaries.

6. Who would you compare yourself to?

I don’t compare myself to anyone. I have people who I strive to be like, but no one I would compare myself to.

7. What are you “famous” for?

My ability to blow-dry a dog faster than anyone, my St. John suit collection and my sense of humor.

8. What website do you visit most often?

Definitely TikTok and Amazon.

9. What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat? And what was it?

My most memorable win was winning the variety at Westminster Kennel Club with GCh. LomaPoint 18K Dangerous Intentions, a parti Cocker Spaniel my grandmother bred.

10. What do you wish someone would ask you?

Ask me anything — I’m an open book.
