10 Questions ...

... asked of Sarah Murphy

Profession: Handler, photographer, personal assistant to my Ibizan Hounds

Dog-sport involvement: Breeder and handler in conformation and lure coursing

Hometown: Spring Hill, Florida

Astrological sign: Pisces

1. Do you have any dog-show superstitions?

I'm sure I do ... but leaving the house on time doesn't seem to be one of them ...

2. TV-show guilty pleasure?

Cartoons and "Trash TV."

3. If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?

Require DNA on file for every dog that enters the studbook. If a dog is entered into the studbook, allow it to be altered and exhibited with its stud-book number. Find someone to finally fix the website!

4. Most valued material possession?

My camera and my weighted blanket.

5. What is something no one would guess about you?

I know the registration number of every dog I've owned or bred by heart ... ask me!

6. Who would you compare yourself to?

I like to live by the philosophy of WWMGD ... What Would Margery Good Do? It is my greatest hope to be half the dog woman she is.

7. What are you “famous” for?

I really want to say Ibizan Hounds ... but that time I showed a Min Pin at the National Dog Show might win this one ...

8. What website do you visit most often?

The Breed Archive.

9. What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat? And what was it?

I have a few very special wins that share the top spot ... but probably the very most satisfying is Iris' Best in Show, the first breeder-owner-handled for our breed. Over 20-plus years I've had plenty of disappointing defeats, but I try my best not to live in that place. Ibizan Hounds have an incredible way of making every day end happily.

10. What do you wish someone would ask you?

"Hey, do you want to go to Waffle House?"
