Welcome to the New York , the home of DOG NEWS, the AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB the AKC MUSEUM OF THE DOG and the reason you are all here - the one the only WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB as it celebrates its 150th anniversary. Happily WESTMINSTER is settling back into its old routine and territory between the East River and the Hudson River. Before the big event on Monday and Tuesday, there are a lot of dog-related activities and social functions. Starting off with a late Friday afternoon cocktail party at the AKC MUSUEM OF THE DOG and you can follow this if lucky enough to be invited a little further uptown to the French Poodle Cocktail Party hosted by those Fab Four ladies, Francophiles KAREN LEFRAK, PATRICIA HEARST, MISSY GALLOWAY & ELLEN CHARLES where you’ll find the guests elbow to elbow, talking about one another or who will be the best in show winner on Tuesday evening. To Saturday night the black tie PURINA PRO PLAN SHOW DOGS OF THE YEAR AWARDS DINNER partnered with DOG NEWS will take place at Gotham Hall where 450 guests will celebrate the accomplishments of those who have excelled in 2025 and the seven top group dogs. It’s a great evening where we all get to socialize and catch up with friends from across the country. Sunday, you can take advantage of all the things New York City offers, restaurants shopping, theatre, museums and general sightseeing but don't forget to visit the DOG MUSEUM, a depository of great art. We were saddened to her that longtime Pembroke and Cardigan Welsh Corgi breeder CYNTHIA SAVIOLI has passed away. Along with her husband VINCENT, who survives her, bred under the Aubrey kennel prefix. We just recently learned and saddened to learn that HENRIETTA LACHMAN has passed away. Together with her husband ROBERT they owned the first Bearded Collie to win a best in show handled by the late TED YOUNG. In later years they down-sized to Norfolk Terriers. All of us at DOG NEWS send ROBERT and family our deepest sympathies. Celebrating a Wedding Anniversary BRYAN & NANCY MARTIN… A little birdie told me that we are going to be seeing more of NANCY who has kept a very low profile at the dog shows in recent years as she works tirelessly for the charity that helps feeds dogs of service men and others who have to otherwise place their animals due to the high cost. What a welcome change, too long in coming to have her active once again.
