Boas-Vindas!

That’s “welcome,” in Portuguese. It’s also how you’ll feel when you fly into Sao Paulo, Brazil, for the upcoming World Dog Show. Brazil has been a big and important part of the lives of those of us at Dog News. As frequent visitors, we can attest to it being a fascinating country that can satisfy any interest you might have. We are reprinting for this editorial some points of interest and contact information sent to us from the show committee about the World Dog Show, in hopes that

you might consider attending as either an exhibitor or spectator:

“Dog lovers cannot miss this very special event in 2022. From December 8 to 11, dog fanciers from all over the world will meet at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo, for the 2022 World Dog Show, considered the largest and most important canine exhibition in the world. It will be an international competition, sponsored by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) and held annually for over 50 years. The Brazilian edition will be promoted by the Confederação Brasileira de Cinofilia (CBKC), which regulates the breeding of purebred dogs in Brazil, and will be the first World Dog Show in the Americas in almost two decades.

“This will be the third edition in Brazil, as we had the honor of hosting the 1972 and 2004 World Dog Show, therefore our expectations for 2022 are the best. ‘Receiving an event of this size on national soil shows the trust of FCI member countries and will place Brazil at the center of the dog fanciers’ world. We are very proud of this achievement,” comments CBKC’s president Fábio Amorim. "We are waiting for more than 5,000 dogs from 50 different countries to show the best of purebred dogs from Brazil and all over the world, in addition to the importance of the preservation of more than 300 breeds recognized by the FCI.”

“The choice of São Paulo as the venue for the event was not a random decision. The city is considered the capital of business tourism in Latin America. Also, São Paulo has the largest dog population in the country, with approximately 25% of the 54.2 million dogs in Brazil. São Paulo also leads CBKC’s ranking in pedigree registration and new kennels. We will receive visitors from all over the world, and São Paulo counts on the advantage of a comprehensive structure of air and land transportation as well as a huge hotel network.
