The heatwave that has gripped the country landed in the Pacific Northwest this past weekend. Temperatures soaring above 100 degrees present a danger to us and our dogs. Fortunately, we as dog-show-goers know how to keep ourselves and our dogs cool. We were also fortunate that no one was taken ill because of the heat. I know it's up to the show committee to decide if a show should be canceled, and there are some areas of the country where 100 degrees is not unusual. BUT I think it is the American Kennel Club’s responsibility, as all shows are operated under their rules, to implement a hard and fast rule: 100 degrees and the show is canceled. ...
