DOG NEWS is pleased to announce that we will be back on our original schedule of publishing every Friday. There seems to be light at the end of this very long and sad year. Especially for me, starting with the passing of MATTHEW STANDER, then the suspension of printing DOG NEWS for several months, and finally my contracting the Covid-19 virus. In addition to the friends that we’ve lost to this dreaded virus, this past year is well behind us. ...
The cancellation of the upcoming July CRUFTS DOG SHOW, while not unexpected, has disappointed its supporters around the world. Anyone who has participated or attended the show knows how big an undertaking this event is. Longtime show manager VANESSA ALPINE does such a fabulous job that she makes it look easy. But come Sunday night when it's all over, there is no one more relieved than she. It is a major loss to the world of purebred dogs, but hopefully March 2022 will see the show back on track. ...

We were saddened to learn of the passing of Terrier Group judge FRED FERRIS from complications of the Covid-19 virus. A former Scottish Terrier fancier and for many years a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier fancier along with his wife JEANNE PEDERSEN FERRIS. FRED’S love of dogs was passed down to his well-known daughter and popular judge KATHY FERRIS. All of us at DOG NEWS send our deepest sympathies to his wife and his daughters KATHY & SANDY HART and families. ...
Retired judge and retired Colonel JERRY WEISS has passed away. Colonel was a very proud title for JERRY to have had bestowed on him. He, too, like FRED FERRIS, passed on his love of dogs to his daughter LISA WEISS (a name synonymous with Labrador Retrievers). The family has requested that those wishing to make a donation in JERRY’S memory do so to the Wounded Warriors organization or Take The Lead.
