I’m not sure that we have a “Living Legend” in our culture like the Japanese, but if we did, PETER GREEN would certainly fit that description in terms of success and popularity. PETER holds that distinction on both sides of the Atlantic, as he is held in the highest esteem in the United Kingdom, from where this Welshman came to America and has enjoyed well-earned fame. So is it any wonder that 50 of his closest friends gathered on Monday evening to help him celebrate his 85th birthday? Gathered at JOHNNY’S STEAKHOUSE and hosted by BETH SWEIGART, they completed the dinner with a homemade birthday cake decorated with a Welsh dragon by baker extraordinaire DINA MOORE. We were saddened and shocked to hear that BETH DOWD of Pinehurst, North Carolina, passed away suddenly. BETH owned several top-winning Pembroke Welsh Corgis and Clumber Spaniels, and was of course co-owner with the late CEIL RUGGLES of the Sussex Spaniel Stump, winner of the 2009 Westminster Kennel Club. Our deepest sympathies to her daughter CAROL. ...
Bouvier, Affenpinscher and Papillion fancier RAMONA FINE has passed away. Not active in the sport for several years, she still had many friends with whom she kept in contact. Our deepest sympathies to her family.
