Question of the Week

What is your favorite memory from Morris & Essex 2021?

Joyce S. Corboy

Ringoes, New Jersey

Everything: the grounds – great layout – the beautiful flowers, the atmosphere – so peaceful and relaxing for a dog show – the delicious food. Committee and staff were so very cordial to all, and the array of vintage clothing was superior to the last show. Every convenience that you could possible want was made available. Congratulations to all for a superb show!

Cranford, New Jersey

My favorite memory of Morris & Essex 2021 was introducing some new exhibitors to a show they had no concept of. They were absolutely amazed at the size and organization, and truly loved the throwback to the days of yore. I also loved seeing so many friends I haven’t seen in so long, and it felt like life was normal again! I truly wish!

Iva Kimmelman

Stow, Massachusetts

Good fortune shined my way, and I was able to attend all M&Es from 2000 on. A one-of-a-kind experience, every time. The hats, the smiles, the gorgeous dogs. Watching Best in Show. All fantastic!

This year, I didn't get to attend, as much as I planned to for five years. A litter of 11 Whippet babies needed me here.

My best memory is showing to one of my mentors, and finishing my bitch with a five-point major 11 years ago.

This year, he was judging the Hound Group, and it would have been incredibly special to watch him make his choices and then to say hello.

I know you had a great time, Michael Dougherty.

Sorry I missed seeing you.

Maria Arechaederra

Silverado, California

My favorite memory of Morris and Essex 2021 was getting to ring steward for the lady, the legend, the one and only Mrs. Pat Trotter. A day I won't soon forget.

Dorothy Blackmon

Charleston, South Carolina

For the 2021 Morris and Essex dog show in New Jersey, I was honored to be asked to judge sweepstakes for the West Highland White Terrier. As a very long-time breeder/exhibitor, this assignment was filled with anticipation that the weather would be sunny and the Westie pups would be numerous. I designed a special outfit for the occasion and off we went.

Residing in Charleston, S.C. I was surprised to find almost the exact weather conditions in New Jersey ... warm and humid. The day turned out to be glorious, with warm weather and lively Westies promenading around the ring.

It was a wonderful time for all.

Bonnie West

Sarasota, Florida

I loved the period clothing, added so much to the day!

Debra Lampert-Rudman

Pennington, New Jersey

It was another superb M&E charm-filled day – the hats, the atmosphere, the good cheer!

Two favorite memories: Watching my 1-year-old particolor pup go Best in Sweepstakes and his sister go Best of Opposite to the Variety in Sweeps under highly respected breeder-judge Bettie Campbell.

Then getting to spend time beside a classic DeSoto with the ultimate classic breeder who sold me my first particolor Cocker more than 30 years ago – Billy Gorodner of Ging’s fame.
