1. Do you have any dog-show superstitions?
When I was a handler, I always picked up 2 rubber bands at my first ring of the day and wore them all day. And, NEVER wear red if it’s important.

2. TV-show guilty pleasure?
The First 48

3. If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?
Not happening.

4. Most valued material possession?

I have an old wooden crate that belonged to the Shearer Sisters (Meander Whippets - a foundational American Whippet kennel). It has “Meander” painted on both sides as well as railway labels still on it when it was shipped to Louis Pegram at Purina in St. Louis. The ventilation holes have all been chewed, because.... Whippets.

5. What is something no one would guess about you?
I won the National Youth Cavy (Guinea Pig) Judging Competition when I was a kid.

6. Who would you compare yourself to?
I got nothin’ for this one....

7. What are you “famous” for?
Whippets - as a breeder and handler

8. What are your thoughts on Social Media?
So many thoughts.... but in short it is a blessing and a curse, heavy on the curse part.

9. What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat? And what was it?
Many of my most memorable wins came when I was too green to even grasp what was happening at the time. It was only in hindsight that I realized how big they were. I do remember my most disappointing defeat: I had a very good shot at winning the Hound Group at Westminster with the Whippet “Lucia” (Ch. Tivio’s Fallingwater), so, naturally, she was beaten in the breed. The WKC group judge had her some months later, actually on occasion of her 100th Hound Group win. When taking the win photo, he said, “6 months too late”... ouch.
