An interesting statistic from the AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS (ASPCA): More than 23 million American households, which equates to nearly one in five, acquired a dog or cat during the pandemic. With those reported figures, it’s no wonder that the dog-walking business in New York is flourishing. Some of those walking your dog are making annual incomes in the six figures. Others are expanding into opening day-care centers to accommodate their clients, who can spend up to $35 for an hour’s walk. Put several friendly dogs together for one walk, and start adding it up. Now you know how good walking is for you, at least in New York. ...
One of those non-regular classes held at the recent ROSE CITY CLASSIC CLUSTER brought three old “stars” and friends together in the center ring to judge the “Future Stars Spectacular.” The first two, MARI-BETH O’NEILL and JERRY KLEIN, we see a lot of, but the third of that trio was NANCY MARTIN, who we never get to see enough of in or out of the ring. MICHAEL was president of the Devon Dog Club (held during the Montgomery County weekend), and his wife MEG WEITZ is the club delegate to the American Kennel Club.
