Top dogs celebrate, California burns, Danish-Swedish Farmdog debuts

The numbers are in, and the top-winning dogs in each variety group for 2024 have been officially notified. No small feat for those who rose to the top in their breed, group and Best in Show rankings. We at DOG NEWS congratulate each and every exhibitor for keeping our sport viable and ongoing and for your successes in the past year, and we wish you good luck in the ring for this new year that is upon us. To accumulate points with the number of small-entry shows and the number of dog shows offered, spending time at home can sometimes seem as far away as OZ. No one can compensate for the time spent on the road and the never-ending four and five days of consecutive shows week after week. ...

The seven top-winning dogs in each variety group that will be honored at the PURINA PRO PLAN SHOW DOGS OF THE YEAR AWARDS DINNER partnered with DOG NEWS are the top-winning dog of all breeds and the Working Group winner, the Giant Schnauzer; a repeat win for the English Springer Spaniel; the Otterhound; a repeat win for the Wire Fox Terrier; a repeat win for the Shih Tzu; the Chow Chow and the German Shepherd Dog. These deserving dogs were top in their respective groups as calculated by the DOG NEWS TOP TEN ALL BREED LIST, the official rating system for PURINA PRO PLAN. These seven dogs will be honored along with other nominees and winners at the black-tie event during the upcoming WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB weekend. ...

The fires that continue to burn in Southern California have taken the home of Basset Hound fancier SUKIE SHOR in their wake. Our thoughts are with SUKIE and her family as they deal with this devastating loss. Hopefully none of our other friends affected by these fires will suffer any losses. ...
