The next MORRIS & ESSEX KENNEL CLUB dog show will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The once-every-five-year dog show, whose date was interrupted once by Covid, was last held in 2021 instead of 2020. With only four years separating that show from the next, preparations are already in the works. So dust off your hats and your checkbooks; there are trophies to buy and sponsor, and other expenses to cover for this one-of-a-kind event. It will be the springboard show of the HATBORO, DEVON and MONTGOMERY COUNTY KENNEL CLUB all-Terrier event weekend. Could there be a more appropriate gift for Mother’s Day than becoming a first-time mother on that day? Well, if you are dog-show photographer ANDREA ASHBEY WEDDE and husband NICHOLAS, it was a double celebration with the birth of their son CHARLES GEORGE WEDDE. No doubt he will be the most photographed baby when his grandparents are dog-show photographer and lens genius JOHN ASHBEY and wife PAT ASHBEY. Congratulations and best wishes to the entire family. NANCY SPELKE is off to Paris, where she will attend the French Open tennis championship and top off the trip with a black-tie dinner at the Palace of Versailles. TONI & MARTIN SOSNOFF are packing for a week’s holiday in London to catch up on theater and art exhibits. Meanwhile GAYLE BONTECOU and DAVID MERRIAM are exploring the riches of the northwestern part of the United States. I don’t often play matchmaker, but the recently single billionaire media king RUPERT MURDOCK has purchased a new bachelor pad in the same building in which BARBARA MILLER owns an apartment. Maybe BARBARA should start spending more time riding in the elevator to take the dog out for a walk. Forget the benefits of exercise; it could be financially very rewarding. Always willing to help a friend.
