1. Do you have any dog-show superstitions?
If I get a run in my nylons before group or Best, unless it’s catastrophic failure, I won’t change them. It ruins the day’s juju.
2. TV-show guilty pleasure?
TV documentaries, serial killer to anything animal. Except monkeys.
3. If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?
Put the focus on PUREBRED dogs ONLY!
4. Most valued material possession?
My dogs — I could not live without them. I could lose everything, but as long as I had them, I’d be OK.
5. What is something no one would guess about you?
I’m a third-generation dog person. Grew up in a commercial breeding kennel.
6. Who would you compare yourself to?
“Old time” dog people. The era of Bob and Jane, Annie Clark, etc. I have those values and breeding philosophies.
7. What are you “famous” for?
Mastiffs, I guess, Sherman in particular. But I had national-specialty winners and BIS winners BEFORE I showed him!
8. What website do you visit most often?
AKC Events calendar.
9. What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat? And what was it?
Losing the third national with Sherman; I was showing him with broken ribs. Most satisfying win? Going BIS with Chihuahua Spicy. More memorable? Spicy! It was totally unexpected — she was a blast to show. The memory makes me smile every time!
10. What do you wish someone would ask you?
LOL, my side of the story! Ask! Don’t assume!
