10 Questions ...

Profession: Aviation support service technician

Dog-sport involvement: Proud 30-plus-year devotee of Staffordshire Bull Terriers

Hometown: Baton Rouge, Louisiana (currently Atlanta, Georgia)

Astrological sign: Scorpio

1. Do you have any dog-show superstitions?

I am not a superstitious person. However, I ALWAYS remind myself before I enter the ring that it’s just a dog show!

2. TV-show guilty pleasure?

YouTube tech reviews!

3. If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?

I would create more inclusive programs that encouraged people to participate and properly address the HUGE pink elephant in the room. Our elitist attitudes and behaviors toward newcomers would be resolved!

4. Most valued material possession?

I am not a material person. I am fortunate that my most valued possessions have heartbeats!

5. What is something no one would guess about you?

That I was a member of the rescue efforts during Hurricane Katrina. Officer Green, to be exact, and I am proud of my service to the people of one of my hometowns!

6. Who would you compare yourself to?

I was raised to always be proud of who and what you are and to value the individual you are. If I ever have the desire to compare myself to anyone, it would the man who raised me, Rev. Tommy Green. He was the best!

7. What are you “famous” for?

I am not famous for anything that I am aware of! I love being a relative nobody in dogs. Less drama that way!

8. What website do you visit most often?

Dognews.com, of course!

9. What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat? And what was it?

My most disappointing defeat was the first time I stepped into the ring as a 16-year-old kid showing an atrocious French Bulldog! The judge at the time, Joan Gordon Alexander, gave me a second place, and I was the only one in the class. Her demeanor and attitude toward a scared-to-death 16-year-old gave me the best lesson I ever had in dogs. Refer back to my answer to question number one — I learned it that day! My most satisfying win came from showing my champion Bull Terrier bitch for the first time at the Silverwood competition and making her a finalist the first time I showed there! A large picture of that win sits the atop the mantle at my family‘s home.

10. What do you wish someone would ask you?

“Would you like your lottery winnings annuitized or lump sum?”
