01 Do you have any dog-show superstitions?
Yes! I have a Swarovski crystal shaped like a Scottie that I must wear at every dog show. If the clasp slips to the front, I quietly move it back behind my neck and make a little wish that something wonderful will happen that day.
02 TV-show guilty pleasure?
Big Bang Theory, I can watch them over and over.
03 If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?
I would move all AKC operations to Raleigh and close the NYC offices.
04 Most valued material possession?
My Swarovski crystal necklace. I bought it on the Champs-Élysées while attending dog shows in Paris in the early 2000’s
05What is something no one would guess about you?
I speak fluent Spanish, and I can read French.
06 Who would you compare yourself to?
I don’t really compare myself to anyone, but I do try to emulate people I admire. My idol is Annie Rogers Clark. I had the privilege of showing to her many times, and she always treated everyone with the utmost respect. She took the time to chat and always made you feel like you mattered.
07 What are you “famous” for?
My Charthill Scottish Terriers of course! Also, I can make an amazing smash burger.
08 What are your thoughts on Social Media?
I’m all for it! I focus on the positive side of social media and love how it has made the world feel smaller, fostering community, meaningful connections, and lasting friendships.
09 What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat? And what was it?
Definitely my most satisfying win. It happened on Father’s Day weekend when I was showing a puppy sired by my special. That puppy won the Terrier Group from the classes, and the very next day his father — my special — won the Terrier Group as well. Father and son winning back-to-back groups on Father’s Day weekend is a memory I’ll never forget, and I know it’s something that will likely never happen again.
10 What do you wish someone would ask you?
I wish someone would ask me to judge at the AKC National show in Orlando.
