10 Questions ...

Profession: Lawyer

Dog-sport involvement: Past breeder, sometimes owner-handler, judge, enthusiast for purposefully bred dogs, sometimes lobbyist for local AKC issues, occasional columnist

Hometown: Naples, Florida

Astrological sign: Taurus

1. Do you have any dog-show superstitions?

No ... except ...

2. TV-show guilty pleasure?

“My Cousin Vinny” followed by ”Best In Show.”

3. If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?

Convene an emergency board meeting and pass a resolution making myself president for a five-year term. It seems like a pretty good gig. (Really, what can you get done in a day?)

4. Most valued material possession?

Currently I would have to say my dog, Ranger. Everything else I can replace. And when I stop and think about it, my wife tells me she owns everything else.

5. What is something no one would guess about you?

I have one of the larger Lee Canalizo collection of paintings (next to Michael's), which is proudly displayed throughout 8,000 square feet of office space in two states. (And by the way, to remain consistent with my answer above, I guess the collection really belongs to my wife and she is letting me borrow it.)

6. Who would you compare yourself to?

Ben Franklin, with hair.

7. What are you “famous” for?

I don't know if I am famous for it, but among my family I believe it is my love and commitment to them.

8. What website do you visit most often?

Google. (That is a website. Where I go from there is anyone's guess!)

9. What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat? And what was it?

The loss of a particular jury trial was most memorable because 1) I hate to lose, and 2) because in hindsight I always believed I could have done more. I will always remember it because I learned at that moment that there is no substitute for preparation and dedication to do and be the best you can be. It is a defeat from which I learned a great deal on how to improve myself as a person.

10. What do you wish someone would ask you?

“What do you think is proper behavior and etiquette for people wishing to participate in the sport of showing dogs?” (You might get an earful.)
