10 Questions ...

Profession:
Post Production Coordinator in Scripted Television

Dog-sport involvement:
Conformation, Obedience, Therapy Dog

Hometown:
Grosse Pointe, Michigan

Astrological sign:
Gemini

1.
Do you have any dog-show superstitions?
I always have to wear three thin rubber bands on my armband.

2. TV-show guilty pleasure?

Law & Order: SVU.

3. If you were president of AKC for one day, what would you do?

Relaunch the AKC app with live dog show results and group streaming. I would also make it so you can click on a dog’s registered name to view a profile, similar to existing pedigree websites, that includes wins, rankings, and photos. I would also approve Silken Windhounds into FSS and host an AKC show in Canada.

4. Most valued material possession?

It’s hard to choose just one. I love my collection of breed-specific Sandicast sculptures, and I value every flat ribbon just as much as every rosette earned.

5. What is something no one would guess about you?

I’m extremely detail-oriented and borderline militant about my pre-dog show routine. The plan cannot be altered. Hotel waffles are mandatory. No exceptions.

6. Who would you compare yourself to?
No one. I am me.

7. What are you “famous” for?

Post Malone naming my dog was pretty cool! I also hope I’m known for having an upbeat, positive attitude and for doing unexpected sports with my Borzoi, like dock diving.

8. What are your thoughts on Social Media?
It’s a useful tool for connecting with people you might never meet otherwise. Just don’t scroll too much, and try not to compare yourself to others.

9. What was more memorable, your most satisfying win or disappointing defeat?  And what was it?

My most memorable win was Best in Show Owner-Handler at the Malibu Kennel Club. After winning Hound Group One, Handler Walt Freshour stopped me and reminded me to stay present. I was at a ten emotionally and needed to bring it back down to a two before going back in the ring. Just before Best, Handler Wendy Bettis came by and gave me a big hug, and I almost cried. When Judge John Schoeneman pointed at me in the ring, it felt surreal. I looked over at Rhea taking photos ringside, and the expression on my face said everything. The most unexpected moments can bring a kind of happiness you never see coming.

10. What do you wish someone  would ask you?
“What time is it?” Because I’m always wearing a watch!
