THE AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB ESTABLISHES THE PRESIDENT’S SPORTSMAN AWARD
The American Kennel Club (AKC®), a not-for-profit organization recognized as the world’s largest registry of purebred dogs and a leading authority on canine welfare and responsible dog ownership, is pleased to announce the establishment of the President’s
Sportsman Award.
Conceived by AKC President and CEO, Gina M. DiNardo, the award honors an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the principles outlined in the AKC Code of Sportsmanship and Civility. It seeks to recognize those whose conduct consistently reflects integrity, mentorship, and respect within the dog sports community.
“The world of dog sports is grounded in mutual respect, exemplary sportsmanship, and a shared devotion to dogs,” said Ms. DiNardo. “This award acknowledges individuals who embody these ideals—those who welcome newcomers, guide others, and elevate the culture of our community both in and out of the ring.”
An independent selection committee will name one adult and one junior recipient. Honorees will be invited to attend the AKC National Championship Presented by Royal Canin, held in Orlando, Florida this December, where the awards will be formally conferred.
