American Heart Association red-dress gala draws the dog fancy

We are not alone when it comes to those in power who want to stay that way. The European soccer authority is headed by president ALEKSANDER CEFERIN. He rose to power in the wake of a scandal, and at that time was in favor of term limits. Now that his term as president is running out, he has changed his mind, and those who make the rules now think term limits shouldn’t apply. I guess it depends on which foot you wear your shoes. As for our sport, term limits help bring in new ideas in an ever-changing world, not to create havoc but to infuse new thoughts and ideas. (See the Question of the Week in this issue.)

Manhattan was a blaze of red, from the top of the Empire State Building to the cozy JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER venue, where the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION’S “GO RED FOR WOMEN” red dress Collection Concert gala was held. Hosted by the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION president and Bichon Frise fancier NANCY BROWN, it was a huge success, with DEMI LOVATO the headline entertainment. I was sorry to miss this event, but we were well represented with J.D. & TARA MARTIN ROWELL, SUSIE MALZONI, EVALYN GREGORY, DAVID HADDOCK, soap star SUSAN LUCCI, Buffalo Bills’ DAMAR HAMLIN, CEO of Miss America ROBIN FLEMING, venture capitalist and American Heart Association board member MINDY GROSSMAN, Miss America MADISON MARSH, television host SHERRI SHEPHERD, actress MIRA SORVINO, DJ KISS, MICKEY GUYTON, BELLAMY YOUNG, BRIANNE HOWEY, DOMINIQUE JACKSON, ELLIE KEMPER, RICHA MOORJANI, SAMIRA WILEY and YVONNE ORJI in attendances. To keep the momentum going, the dog shows in Dallas, including the GREATER COLLIN KENNEL CLUB, celebrating its 59th anniversary, will promote and encourage others to make donations to the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION.
